Research Scholarships in Islamic Studies - MEAE and UMIFRE Network 2026
Opportunity summary
The Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs (MEAE), in partnership with the UMIFRE network, offers field research grants to support emerging research in Islamic studies. This program is aimed at Master 2 students, PhD candidates, and recent PhD graduates conducting research in various disciplines such as history, sociology, archaeology, or textual analysis.
Awardees will be hosted at a research center within the UMIFRE network, such as the Centre Jacques Berque in Morocco, for a duration of 1 to 3 months for Master 2 students, or 6 months for PhD candidates and recent graduates. Candidates must be affiliated with a French university or have recently defended their thesis there.
The program encourages projects that include collaboration with local French research operators. Scholars are expected to integrate into the host team and present their findings at the end of their stay.

Benefits and funding
