Candidates must meet the strict criteria of FAPESP and TWAS, including nationality and academic background.
- Be a citizen and permanent resident of an eligible developing country.
- Hold a PhD or equivalent degree obtained within the last seven years.
- Have a conditional acceptance letter issued by a supervisor at a university or institute in the State of São Paulo.
- Not hold a temporary or permanent residence visa in Brazil or a developed country.
- Not already be in Brazil at the time of application.
- Demonstrate sufficient proficiency in the English language to carry out research activities.

How to apply, step by step
- Identify a supervisor. Consult the list of eligible researchers published on 2026-12-01 and contact a professor to obtain a conditional acceptance letter.
- Prepare the application file. Write your research project in connection with the mentor's FAPESP grant and gather the required academic documents.
- Create a SAGe account. Register on the FAPESP SAGe platform using your ORCID identifier or via the complete registration form.
- Submit the proposal. Have your complete application file submitted by your Brazilian supervisor via the online portal before the deadline.
The final submission must be made by the Brazilian supervisor via the FAPESP SAGe portal.
