Studying in Germany: Scholarships and Procedures for Moroccan Students

Published on

Germany attracts more and more Moroccan students: public universities with no tuition fees (apart from a semester contribution), well-recognised programmes and generous scholarships.

The main scholarships

The DAAD is the central body: its EPOS programme funds development-related master's and doctoral programmes (€992 per month for a master's, €1,400 per month for a doctorate from 2026), and its database lists hundreds of programmes. EPOS applications are made directly to the universities that run the programmes, not to DAAD headquarters. See the scholarships for Germany on MaBourse.ma.

Conditions and calendar

EPOS requires at least two years of professional experience after the bachelor's degree. Campaigns generally run between August and October for the following academic year. For master's programmes outside EPOS, applications often go through uni-assist or university portals, between December and March.

Language and admission

Many master's programmes are taught in English (IELTS/TOEFL required). For programmes taught in German, a B2/C1 level (TestDaF, DSH, Goethe-Zertifikat) is required. The file includes certified diplomas, a Europass CV, a motivation letter and proof of experience.

Student visa

After admission, the national student visa application is submitted to the German embassy in Rabat, notably with proof of resources (a blocked account, around €11,904 per year) or a scholarship certificate.
