Studying in Canada: Scholarships, Admissions and Study Permits
Published on
Canada, and French-speaking Quebec in particular, is a major destination for Moroccan students. The path combines university admission, funding and immigration.
Possible funding
Besides university excellence scholarships (awarded on the basis of your file at admission), Quebec offers French students and, depending on agreements, exemptions from differentiated tuition fees for certain programmes. Canadian government scholarships and bodies such as the FRQ fund mainly graduate studies. Follow the scholarships for Canada on MaBourse.ma.
Admissions
Applications are made directly to the universities, 8 to 12 months before the start of the academic year. For Quebec, files are submitted online (admission form, transcripts and proof of French if required). Universities outside Quebec often require English (IELTS/TOEFL).
CAQ and study permit
For Quebec: first the Quebec Acceptance Certificate (CAQ), then the federal study permit from IRCC, with proof of funds. The combined processing times often exceed three months: apply early.
